Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Активное Чтение (Active Reading) is a digital reading application available at bilingualreader.app and via Telegram. The service is operated by an individual entrepreneur registered in Romania. Contact: support@bilingualreader.app

2. Data we collect

  • Account data: email address, optional display name.
  • Telegram data: Telegram user ID, first name, last name, username (when you sign in via Telegram).
  • Reading data: which books you read, reading progress, notes, highlights, reading session durations.
  • Payment data: payment order status and amounts. We do not store card numbers — payments are processed by Stripe (non-RU) or YooKassa (RU).
  • Technical data: browser/device type, IP address (for fraud prevention and GeoIP-based region detection), log files.

3. How we use your data

  • To provide and improve the reading service.
  • To process payments and manage your credit wallet.
  • To sync your reading progress across devices.
  • To send transactional emails (password reset, magic link). No marketing emails without consent.
  • To detect the correct payment region (RU or international) via GeoIP.

4. Third-party processors

  • Stripe — payment processing for non-RU users (Stripe Privacy Policy).
  • YooKassa — payment processing for RU users (YooKassa Terms).
  • Telegram — authentication and bot delivery (Telegram Privacy Policy).
  • Groq / Google Cloud — AI text processing (summaries, translations, tasks). Only the text of the current page is sent; it is not stored by us.

5. Data retention

Your account data is kept as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by emailing support@bilingualreader.app. Payment records are retained for 5 years as required by Romanian tax law.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA you have the right to access, rectify, erase, or export your personal data. Contact us at support@bilingualreader.app for any request. Response within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use a single session cookie (app_session) to keep you logged in. No third-party tracking cookies.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version is always available at bilingualreader.app/legal/privacy. Significant changes will be announced via email.
